Shabby Tilda

Hello lovely people,

I am back with my second card of the day and it's a mid-way reminder for the current challenge at A Little Bit Crafty.  If you are looking for my card for In The Pink then just scroll down :-)

So, just to remind you, this month's theme is...

FLOWER POWER

This Tilda stamp recently 'appeared' in my craft room so I thought I'd show her a little ink!  I am quite liking the shabby chic look of late so I have distressed and inked the edges of the DP.
Strangely considering the challenge theme I didn't add any extra flowers as I liked the clean layered look.

I tried to keep the colouring soft to match the DP and added teeny dots of liquid pearls to the bunch of flowers.

Card recipe;

Flower Power

Hello lovely people,

I am back with my next belated card share from Thursday and it's my guest DT card for A Little Bit Crafty where this month's theme is...

FLOWER POWER

This is the card I sent to my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day and it's a fairly CAS design.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on the relatives tags from LOTV to match the general sentiment ones I already have and they are so useful!

I love this sweet Tilda and have gone for springtime colours and little dots of pearl pen for a subtle touch of bling.

Spring Tilda

Hello lovely people,

What a fabulously sunny weekend we have had!  I enjoyed spending time with friends including a lovely long walk and some fantastic food :-)
So, not too much crafting time but I just had to sneak a bit of space into my schedule to have a quick play with one of my newly acquired Magnolia stamps.

It's a fairly CAS creation from me today and I felt this sweet image lent itself to a Spring-themed card.  There's so much green stuff popping up in my garden at the moment so the pretty green DP seemed the perfect choice.

Buckle up!

Hello lovely people,

Today I have TWO projects to share with you and look what is first up...

Yep, that's right, I'm super excited to be doing a guest DT spot at  Top Tip Tuesday and the theme this time is...

CUTE

I was asked if I would do a tutorial and I knew straight away that I wanted to share how to make a buckle card.
I first saw this type of card here on Lyndsey's blog and just had to have a go myself, so here's a little look at what the finished card looks like...

And here's how to make it...

Cut a 4cm strip from the front right hand side of a 145cm square base card and save the offcut strip for later

Cut a panel of patterned paper to fit the front of the card and 2 panels to fit the inside of the card, leaving a small white border.  If desired, ink and stitch round the edges of all the panels

Glue the patterned paper panel to the front of the card

Take the offcut strip from step one, round the corners at one end then score and fold at 9cm from this end. This will form the 'buckle' strip.

Cut a small panel of patterned paper to fit the front of the buckle leaving a small white border, inking and stitching edges if desired.  Glue panel to buckle strip.

Inside the card mark out a slot roughly 4mm wide on the left hand side 4cm up from the bottom and 3cm from the left hand edge and cut out with a craft knife; the exact size and placement of the slot is not crucial and can be adjusted to fit where you would like it underneath the image

Attach buckle strip to right hand side 4cm up from the bottom so that the fold line of the buckle lines up with the right hand edge of the card and will fold neatly over the front of the card when closed

Glue patterned paper panel to right hand inside to cover the buckle

Stamp and colour image, trim to size and mat onto a piece of Kraft card. Cover back of image panel with foam pads or tape except for where the buckle will pass behind it; you can mark out where the slot will be by placing the image panel on the front of the card and drawing through the slot you have cut out

Cut a 4x6cm piece of white card and attach to the back of the image over where the buckle slot will be; just glue at the very left hand edge and allow it to hang over the foam pads but don't take the backing off the foam pads just yet!

This is the tricky stage; remove the foam pad backing from the image panel and poke the card strip on the back through the slot whilst you stick down image panel on front
This is what it now looks like from the front;

Glue the end of the small piece of card down inside - you can make the card without this little strip but it does allow the buckle to slide in and out much more easily without catching

Glue patterned paper panel to left hand inside to cover the slot and tab

Decorate the front of the card as desired; I have added flowers and tied some twine with tags round the buckle strip.

Here is the inside of the card and you can see that I added a white panel inside to write the greeting on.

I couldn't finish without a close up of the gorgeous little princess Tilda with a touch of Glamour Dust on the stars.

A new addiction

Hello lovely people,

Today I have a 'just for fun' card to share with you where I got to play with some more new crafty stash from Christmas.  I couldn't wait to use my Go Kreate dies and they cut beautifully :-)
I also got a Magnolia swirl die that I have wanted for ages and just couldn't bring myself to buy because it is soooo expensive, so I was one happy girlie when I got it for Christmas :-D

I picked up a couple of Magnolia stamps on sale before Christmas so out came one of those and yes, that's the new addiction I am referring to in my post title!  I just adore colouring them :-)

Bring on the bling

Hello lovely people,

I can't believe it has been 4 weeks since we set you the KISS challenge at In The Pink and I know it's one you all struggle with as we had some very loose interpretations of the theme - lol!
So, we thought we'd go for something a little bit easier this time and that is...
Bling it up!
I have to confess that my card isn't quite as blingy as it was in my head when I planned it but I do rather like it!

I also have to confess to buying new craft stash, namely this beautiful Tilda stamp.  I have been thinking of trying out a Magnolia for a while and this one fell into my shopping basket whilst buying a stamp for my Mum for her birthday ;-)

For my bling I have used a sprinkling of glamour dust (both on the card and myself!), several pearls and a couple of tiny little gems - can you spot them?!
I curved the sentiment and raised the centre on some foam pads... I think this turned out pretty effective so you might be seeing this again!

Card recipe;
Image: Magnolia - Tilda binding flowers (from Sir Stampalot)
DP: Maja Designs - Sofiero/Vintage Summer Basics
Flowers / pearls / pearl brad / seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Fancy frame: Spellbinders Nesties - Timeless Rectangles
Leaves: Memory Box die - Lavish Branch
Sentiment: Kaisercraft mini set

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/51 &R30/21
Hair: E50/51/53/31/43
Dress: RV000 & R81/83/85
Ribbon: R83/85
Flowers: BV0000/000/00/01/02/04/08
Leaves: YG61 & G21/94
Shoes: E53/55/57
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Wild Orchid Crafts (add a die cut)
2.  Papertake Weekly (make it sparkle)
3.  Inky Chicks (Pretty in Pink)

We know you love the sparkly shiny stuff so no excuses for not entering our challenge :-)  If you need any more inspiration pop over to In The Pink and see what the rest of the DT have created... be prepared to be dazzled!

Before I go I would like to apologise for being a bad blogger as I have not been round to visit you all as much as I would like over the last couple of weeks.  It's been one of these 'life gets in the way' fortnights and I hope things are going to settle down a bit now.

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,
Kat xx
