Monochrome rocks!

Hello lovely people,

I'm currently on holiday with Dr Hubby and all his family at a cottage in Devon; the weather is a bit variable but we're still having lots of fun :-)

So, while I enjoy another cream tea (probably - we've had 2 already!) I will let you know about the new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday where our theme this time is...

MONOCHROME

If you're not sure what this means, we want to see shades of just ONE colour on your creation, apart from skin/hair tones if you wish.

We are sponsored by the fabulous Kenny K where you can find a great range of funky images for girls and boys!

I went for a classic greyscale; I really wanted to add a stripe of colour to her hair but resisted to make sure I kept to the monochrome theme... maybe next time!

Can you believe that I have never coloured one of these images before?  I was really excited to get a free image to use for the challenge and this was such fun to colour.

Card recipe;
Image: Vikki Lee Vicious - Kenny K
DP: Enchanted - Bo Bunny & Flea Market - Crate Paper
Dies: Cosmic star set - Memory box
Seam binding: The Ribbon Girl

Copic colours;
Skin: T0/1/2

Hugs,
Kat xx

Anniversary

Hello lovely people,

That's another weekend gone then!  I've been catching up with friends over a curry and a few drinks on Saturday evening, taking our first drive in the Caterham with the roof off, then a spot of gardening this afternoon in the lovely sunshine.

So, not much time for crafting but I do have a Silver Wedding anniversary card to share with you that I made for a work colleague.
I knew I wanted a monochrome design but had my usual uncertainty about where to fit the greeting and the names before I finally came up with a layout that worked.
The greeting panel is curved and raised up in the middle for some dimension... which is why the border looks a bit uneven in the photo - it's just the angle, honest!  Oh, and sorry for the generally poor photo, monochrome is tricky to capture!

I coloured the image in Copics and it actually turned out how it looked in my head!  Even Dr Hubby was complimentary about it and said the balloon was my best shading of a shiny 3D object ever - wow!

Card recipe;
DP: Crea Diem - Maja Designs
Dies: Leaf and swirl, and Tilda lace - Magnolia DooHickey, Filigree Corner - La La Land
Ribbon: from stash
Tags: Sentiment tags - LOTV (stamped without text and names printed on)

Copic colours;
Skin: W00/0/1
Dress / hat bow / boy's hair: W0/1/3/5
Trousers / hat / girl's shoes: W4/6/8
Shirt ' socks: W00/0/blender
Braces: W2/4
Boy's shoes: W7/9/100
Dress bow: W00/1/2
Leaves: W2/4/6
Girl's hair: W1/3/5
Balloon: W0/1/2/3/4/5
Ground: W0/1/2/3
Roses: R37/39/59

Phew, that was a long list but it may be useful to someone, and probably me next time I want to do monochrome!
I hope you all had a fab weekend and saw some sunshine :-)

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Celebrate

Hello lovely people,

I have had a lovely weekend with my sister-in-law, her other half and my niece and nephew but am properly exhausted now.  A Saturday night out at a Chaser gig accompanied by a few cheeky glasses (bottles?!) of red wine and a lot of dancing on the tables may have had something to do with that but oh, it was so much fun :-D

Earlier this week it was my other sister-in-law's hubby's birthday and I was running a bit late with making his card so opted for an easy CAS design and here it is...

I fancied a bit of black and white colouring and chose this fab LOTV image from one of the sketch pads, but it is also available as a rubber stamp.  The monochrome colouring proved to be a nice quick option as I didn't have to spend time matching all the colours to my DP!

Card recipe;
Image: Jack, Patch and Puss sketch pad - LOTV (rubber stamp version here)
DP: Flea Market 'treasure' - Crate Paper
Twine: The Ribbon Girl (temporarily closed)
Enamel dots: MME cut & paste flair 'sweet'

Copic colours;
Dog: W2-4 & 5-8
Cat: W00-1 & 1-4
Cake: various W series
Ground: W00-3

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and it's going to be an early night for me tonight so I am fresh for work tomorrow!
Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Challenges I am entering;
1.  LOTV - name that tune (Celebration - Kool and the Gang)
2.  A Creative Romance (let's get sentimental)
3.  Totally Gorjuss (string's the thing)
4.  Top Tip Tuesday (stitching)

A Dressy Christmas

Hello lovely people,

Are you feeling festive yet?  I certainly am and have been busy today writing my Christmas cards and making tags for the presents :-)  And if you need a little something else to get you into the festive spirit then how about a new challenge at All Dressed Up with the theme of...

CLEAN AND SIMPLE

As usual, there are 2 newly released images and I have used the gorgeous All Dressed Up for Christmas.  This classy image works really well on CAS designs and is pretty speedy to colour.
I am going to put my Christmas decorations up later - not sure I will look as elegant as this lady; I would probably just fall off that pile of presents - lol!

I have kept the colouring to mostly black and white with just a couple of pops of red.  There are some little spots of glitter on the wings and the stars although my photography skills have yet again failed to capture them!

Card recipe;
DP: December Documented - Simple Stories
Twine: from The Ribbon Girl

Copic colours;
Monochrome sections: C series
Red: R29/59

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Bunny Zoe (wings)
2.  Divas by Design (anything goes)
3.  Cute Card Thursday (Christmas catch up)
4.  Sweet Stampin' (last minute Christmas)

The rest of the Dressy Girls have made some stunning CAS cards so do head over to the All Dressed Up blog and check them out.  The challenge runs until 14th January so you have plenty of time to get creating using any of the All Dressed Up images in a CAS style :-)

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx
