Flower fairy

Hello lovely people,

It's time for a new challenge at In The Pink and our theme this month is...

FLOWER GARDEN

 So we want to see all those beautiful floral creations...in PINK of course!

Apologies for the wonkiest photo ever, it was just one of those days!  I have crammed in the flowers though, on the image, the DP and some lovely 3D flowers too :-)
I have had some hessian ribbon for a little while now and decided it was time to use it, and I do love it teamed with the seam binding and twine - both rustic and pretty.

I have just started the skin and hair colouring class at Kit and Clowder and whilst I have a long way to go I feel I have made some improvements already...like the hair on this little lady...what do you reckon?
This is just one of the many gorgeous new fairy stamps at LOTV; I could so have bought them all but had to resist!

Card recipe;
Image: Petal - LOTV
DP: Yours truly - Pebbles
Hessian / twine: The Ribbon Girl
Seam binding (pink tulip) / flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts

Shoes: T0/2/4
Flower: E40/RV000/00/32 and R32/81/83

If you haven't already done so then do pop over to In The Pink and check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the Pink Ladies.
Please also go and leave some love for our very special Pink Lady Christine C who is very sadly leaving the Pink Palace this week; you will be much missed Christine.
However, we do have a new Pink Lady as well so please go and give a warm welcome to Stacey, and check out her gorgeous first creation :-)

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Sew shabby

Hello lovely people,

Well, we haven't seen much sunshine so far for our cottage holiday in Dorset but have still enjoyed some lovely walks and a visit to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, which were beautiful.

Now it is of course time for a new challenge at In The Pink and our theme this time is...

VINTAGE / SHABBY CHIC

I have been enjoying making cards with a slightly shabby chic feel lately and the one I am sharing today was actually requested by my hairdresser for her Mum's special birthday.
It is very similar to a layout I did recently and it was so good I just had to use it again, but this time with a sewing machine image from Pink Petticoat.  It's a sweet and simple design but perfect for dressing up with lots of pretty embellishments.

And how timely that one of the magazines I subscribe to had a free gift of sewing themed charms so I added one on here!
I added extra prettiness to the digi image with liquid pearl dots on the flower centres and Frantage round the edge.

I've popped a little tag behind the image with the special greeting on it; it's a cute way to add an interactive touch I think.

Card recipe;
Image: Material Girl (daisies) - Pink Petticoat
DP: Vintage summer basics - Maja Design
Corner swirl stamps: set 68 - Corners - LOTV
Frantage: Shabby white by Stampendous - from Live & Love Crafts

Seam binding / all flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearl head pins: The Ribbon Girl

Copic colours;
Sewing machine body: W00/0/1
Flowers: RV91/93/95 & BG93 for leaves

If you haven't already done so then do pop over to In The Pink and check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the Pink Ladies.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Not much of a challenge?!

Hello lovely people,

Here is my final card for the day and if you are after my card for In The Pink or A Little Bit Crafty then you need to scroll down a bit!

It's new challenge time at All Dressed Up and this time our theme is...

STITCHING

So, you can see why I said it wasn't much of a challenge for me as all my cards have stitching on them!  I tried out another way to use my large shaped dies and it turned out pretty well.  Oh look, there's that swirl die again!

I have used a new image called Twinkle Toes and given how much I loved the first All Dressed Up image I ever saw which was Abi Ballerina, it's no surprise this was a big hit with me!

Card recipe;
Image: Twinkle Toes - freebie to All Dressed Up Facebook group members
DP: Sofiero - Maja Design
Dies: leaf and swirl - Magnolia, Precious stars & cosmic star set - Memory Box

I also used a new Saturated Canary image that came on a CD-ROM with a magazine and has been on my 'must colour' list for a while now.

Buckle up!

Hello lovely people,

Today I have TWO projects to share with you and look what is first up...

Yep, that's right, I'm super excited to be doing a guest DT spot at  Top Tip Tuesday and the theme this time is...

CUTE

I was asked if I would do a tutorial and I knew straight away that I wanted to share how to make a buckle card.
I first saw this type of card here on Lyndsey's blog and just had to have a go myself, so here's a little look at what the finished card looks like...

And here's how to make it...

Cut a 4cm strip from the front right hand side of a 145cm square base card and save the offcut strip for later

Cut a panel of patterned paper to fit the front of the card and 2 panels to fit the inside of the card, leaving a small white border.  If desired, ink and stitch round the edges of all the panels

Glue the patterned paper panel to the front of the card

Take the offcut strip from step one, round the corners at one end then score and fold at 9cm from this end. This will form the 'buckle' strip.

Cut a small panel of patterned paper to fit the front of the buckle leaving a small white border, inking and stitching edges if desired.  Glue panel to buckle strip.

Inside the card mark out a slot roughly 4mm wide on the left hand side 4cm up from the bottom and 3cm from the left hand edge and cut out with a craft knife; the exact size and placement of the slot is not crucial and can be adjusted to fit where you would like it underneath the image

Attach buckle strip to right hand side 4cm up from the bottom so that the fold line of the buckle lines up with the right hand edge of the card and will fold neatly over the front of the card when closed

Glue patterned paper panel to right hand inside to cover the buckle

Stamp and colour image, trim to size and mat onto a piece of Kraft card. Cover back of image panel with foam pads or tape except for where the buckle will pass behind it; you can mark out where the slot will be by placing the image panel on the front of the card and drawing through the slot you have cut out

Cut a 4x6cm piece of white card and attach to the back of the image over where the buckle slot will be; just glue at the very left hand edge and allow it to hang over the foam pads but don't take the backing off the foam pads just yet!

This is the tricky stage; remove the foam pad backing from the image panel and poke the card strip on the back through the slot whilst you stick down image panel on front
This is what it now looks like from the front;

Glue the end of the small piece of card down inside - you can make the card without this little strip but it does allow the buckle to slide in and out much more easily without catching

Glue patterned paper panel to left hand inside to cover the slot and tab

Decorate the front of the card as desired; I have added flowers and tied some twine with tags round the buckle strip.

Here is the inside of the card and you can see that I added a white panel inside to write the greeting on.

I couldn't finish without a close up of the gorgeous little princess Tilda with a touch of Glamour Dust on the stars.

Card recipe;
Image: Tilda catching stars - Magnolia
DP: Sofiero - Maja Designs
Dies: Lavish branch - Memory Box

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/21/11
Hair: E50/51/53/31/43

Little ballerina

Hello lovely people,

Yesterday I had a crafty day with my Mum which was really lovely but we may have spent more time chatting than crafting - lol!

Today we have a new challenge for you at In The Pink and our theme is...

CHILD'S PLAY

So, we want to see your creations for a child, and don't forget to use more pink than any other colour!

This card is chock full of some of my favourite card making items including my absolute fave swirl die of the moment - are you sick of it yet?!
The DP is also one of my faves, in fact I had to buy some more recently because I love it so much and had run out!

I am also really enjoying using the more 3D flowers right now but don't have many so I think that calls for a little shopping trip don't you?!

Aw, isn't this little ballerina such a sweetie and so pretty in pink, dancing in all the Frantage!

Card recipe;
DP: Crea Diem - Maja Designs
Frantage: Shabby white - Stampendous - from Live and Love Crafts

Under my umb-e-rella ella ella...

Hello lovely people,

Are you singing yet?  Sorry if that's stuck in your head now!  I'm back with my second card of the day as it's new release time at All Dressed Up and we have four fantastic images for you this month.  They can all be purchased from the shop.

A Little Me Time

A Time to Share

Looking Gorgeous

We Make a Good Team

As usual I had a hard time deciding which image to use but from my post title I'm sure you have guessed which one I've gone for :-)
I decided on a clean layered design for these little cuties - they just didn't need any embellishment other than a hint of lace and a few pearls.

I paper pieced the umbrella and added a little shading to it with Copics, then coloured the rest of the image with Copics.

Card recipe;
DP: Lost & Found Madison Avenue and Lost & Found 2 Blush - both MME
Sentiment: Clear mini stamp set - Kaisercraft

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/11/21
Hair (right hand girl): E35/37/47
Hair (left hand girl): E50/53/43
Blue dress and details: B91/93/95/97
Yellow dress and details: Y21/23 & YR23/24/30/31
Bag: E35/37
Umbrella: R000/RV11
Ground: T0/1/2/3/4

A special pink card

Hello lovely people,

For those of you wondering where I have been, it has just been a busy week and a fab weekend with family.  I have a couple of days off at the moment though and am enjoying a little me (craft) time :-)

But now it's time for a new challenge at In The Pink and our theme is...

MOTHER'S DAY OR SPECIAL LADY

We know that not everyone will be making Mother's Day cards so any card for a special lady will do and we'd love it if you told us who it's for.
My card is for my mother-in-law's birthday but I always struggle to put names on cards so you can't tell from looking at it - lol!

She enjoys gardening so I bought this stamp with her in mind and of course, it works so well in pink!  I used the out-of-the-box technique to cut it into a circle to match the doodled frame of the stamped image.

Card recipe;
Dies: Die-namics circle stax, Anja's vintage swirls - Marianne Designs
Lace: from stash (East of India brand)

Copic colours;
Bear: E40/41/32/43
Wheelbarrow: E35/37/47/49
Presents: RV0000/000/R81/83/85/R59 & V20/22/25
Butterfly / tulips: R81/83
Grass / leaves: YG61/93/95

If you pop over to In The Pink you can check out the fabulous creations from my teamies.

I will be back later today with another card so for now, thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave.

Hugs,
Kat xx

Challenges I am entering;
1.  As You Like It (fave 3D texture object - mine is more of a combo than 1 item as I love lace layered with twine tied in a bow with a flower on top - it just looks so elegant)
2.  A Creative Romance (bingo: pink, flowers, pearls)
3.  Totally Gorjuss (happy birthday)
4.  The Ribbon Girl (birthday)

Pink and...

Hello lovely people,

I am back in one piece from my skiing trip and had one of the best holidays ever - great snow, fabulous food (and drink!) and such a wonderful time with friends.  It went so fast and here I am back in the usual routine.

But hey, there's nothing like a new challenge at In The Pink to cheer me up and our theme this time is...

PINK PLUS ONE

So, we want to see your creations in pink with one other colour...but don't be shy with the pink!

I totally surprised myself with my 'plus 1' choice, as my fave colours to team with pink are green or brown but today we have pink plus grey!

I intended this card to be for my sister-in-law's birthday and once I had decided on the image I wanted to use, this DP just seemed the perfect match, so the colour scheme was dictated by that.

I do find it hard to pick favourite Saturated Canary images but this is definitely one of them; I adore her big glasses, cute dress and long socks :-)  I tried out a new combo for the hair too and hope you'll agree it's a winner!

Card recipe;
DP: Love Notes - Crate Paper
Lace: Irene - The Ribbon Girl (temporarily shut)
Flowers: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Foliage: leaf and swirl Magnolia Doohickey die
Sentiment: Happy Circular Sentiments - LOTV

Copic colours;
Skin: E000/00/00/11/21
Hair: E50/53/43/57
Eyes: B91/93
Pinks: RV32/34/R85/37/39
Greys: W series

If you pop over to In The Pink you can check out the fabulous 'pink plus one' creations from my teamies; don't worry, there's still LOTS of pink on show!

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Challenges I am entering;
1.  Papertake Weekly (lovely layers)
2.  Wild Orchid Challenge (it's a stitch up)
3.  ABC (F is for flowers)

I'm here to share my card for the new challenge at In The Pink and this week we have the theme of...

A love themed pink card you say?  Easy and the perfect opportunity to use one of my new Tilda stamps AND some new DP :-)

I loved colouring this sweet Tilda in fabulous hot pink; I don't think I've ever used such a bright combo of Copics before!  I added a little Glamour Dust to the hearts and some Stickles around the edge of the hearts on the stems - better IRL as always!

Hello lovely people,

I did receive an enormous parcel of goodies from Sarah's Cards though with some amazing paper pads so I can't wait to play with those!

And now it's Thursday so it's time for a new challenge at In The Pink and our theme this time is...

A Dressy blog hop

Hello lovely people,

Our first All Dressed Up challenge & release of 2014 is here...and what a fantastic release it is.

Both our teams have joined together for this Challenge/Release, and we are also having a blog hop...more details of this below!

We have four new releases this month, all of which can be found over on the store
Our theme for the the challenge is "Anything Goes". A nice and easy theme to start the new year with.
Here is my design team card for this challenge;

I have used 'Little Bookworm' which you will find  here.  I took my cue from the gorgeous retro hat she is wearing and used vintage DP and colour palette.  Isn't she so cute?!

I also learnt to tie a beautiful double bow; something I have been meaning to do for a while.  I know some of you already have this skill but if not, I checked out a few different tutorials and found the video tutorial here the easiest to follow and it made the nicest bow :-)

Card recipe;
Image: Little Bookworm - All Dressed Up
DP: Vintage Autumn Basics - Maja Designs
Seam binding: Cruise Beige - The Ribbon Girl - not stocked now
Border: Martha Stewart edge punch
Flowers: Country Elegance - Prima
Dies: Anja's vintage swirls - Marianne Designs

Copic colours;
Hair: E57/47/49
Hat: E40/41/42
Dress / bow / book: E04/R56/R59/RV69
Chair: E42/43/44
Books: G94/85/99 & E50/51

The challenge will run until 2nd February and the winner will receive 3 images of their choice from the store
Please make sure you stop by the blog to check out the rest of the talented Dressy Girls creations.

Now as I said earlier we are also having a blog hop for this challenge, two lucky winners will receive 2 images of their choice from the store, in order to be in with a chance of winning you have to visit every blog on the hop list and leave a comment by the date shown below. Two winners will be picked at Random by two of the Dressy Girls on Wednesday 22nd January . We know we have quite a few Dressy girls, so we have spread the hop over a week to give you all plenty of time to hop along.

If you have been following the hop list you have arrived here from Marilyn.
Here is the hopping list so you don't get lost along the way;

Good luck on the hop and make sure you check out the blog for the winners & all the challenge details.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx
