A cheeky notebook

Hello lovely people,

Wow, my feet have hardly touched the ground for the last few days.  I had a fab bank holiday weekend with family and ate LOADS of cake :-)  My mum made some yummy carrot cake and I made chocolate orange cupcakes...

I have then been so busy making cards that I haven't had time to blog anything.  So, I thought I would just share this little notebook that I made.

The pages are all offcuts and the outer covers are from some brown cardboard packaging so I think I did well on the recycling front!  I used my bind-it-all to punch the holes and add the 3/4" wire binding.  You can just see in the next photo that I put pretty DP on the inside of the covers too.

The image was coloured with ProMarkers (done prior to my switch to Copics), then fussy cut and stuck to the front.  I put a layer of matt Mod Podge all over to keep it from getting scruffy when used.  That's also why there are no embellishments as I wanted to make it practical to use.

Card recipe;
Image: Cheeky Geeky from TGF
DP: Pink Paislee - Portfolio
Letters: cut with Cricut

I would like to enter this card in the Simon Says Stamp challenge which has the theme of 'Anything Goes' this week.

I hope you all had a wonderful time over the bank holiday and saw some of the lovely sunshine that we had here in Gloucestershire :-)

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,

Pretty floral

Hello lovely people,

Welcome along to my newest follower, Jane, and thank you for choosing to follow me :-)

I'm starting the bank holiday weekend off with my DT card for Totally Gorjuss and our theme this week is 'Just Because.'  We are sponsored by Bugaboo AND The Ribbon Girl this week - yes, that's TWO lovely prizes to be won!

I went for a super simple card this week using some of my new favourite papers - I always love the MME collections.

This is just a weeny little card (9 x 11.5 cm) so great for using up some scraps of paper and a few cute embellishments.  The little lacy circle under the button was brought back for me by my mother-in-law from a holiday in Tenerife.

Card recipe;
DP: MME Lost and Found 3 - Oliver
Sentiment: Personal Impressions Big Sentiments stamp set
Flower: Prima Country Elegance
Button: from stash

For some more inspiration pop over to Totally Gorjuss and see what my teamies have created, then I hope you can join in our challenge.

I hope you all have lovely things planned for the bank holiday weekend and fingers crossed for some sunshine :-)

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,

Spots and stripes

Hello lovely people,

I have everything crossed that Blogger does as he is told and posts this for me while I am still in bed after going to see Muse at the Ricoh stadium in Coventry last night :-)

Next up, thank you to Donna and Nat for becoming my latest followers - so lovely to have you along!

And eventually on to the main business; my DT card for Lili's Little Fairies and the theme this week is 'Spots and Stripes' - easy peasy right?  I have done a masculine card this week which is so not my forte, but this LOTV image made it a breeze to make  :-)

I have let the DP and image do most of the work here and only added a little twine and button for embellishment.

I have used an image from one of the new LOTV sketch pads, and wow, these are totally amazing.  They are such good value at £6 for 30 images and give you a really nice selection of images to work with.  The card is a lovely weight and the images colour up beautifully with my Copics.

Card recipe;
DP: Simple Stories Documented
Sentiment: Personal Impressions Big Sentiments
Twine/button: from stash

Copic colours;
Jack: E41/81/42, YR30 (R000 for paws)
Cake: W00, YR30, Y0000 (E81 for spots)
Red spots/cake filling: R27/29/37
Candles: B93/95 & YR23/27

Do check out the creations from the rest of the Fairies and then break out those spots and stripes and join in our challenge for a chance to win £10 to spend over at My Crafty Heart.

Thanks for visiting,

Little mermaid

Hello lovely people,

Oh, what a beautiful sunny morning; I hope you have some sunshine where you are too!
I'm glad the weather is not playing along with our theme at Totally Gorjuss this week which is 'Water Water!'
This theme immediately made me think of this gorgeously cute mermaid from Tiddly Inks.

I thought the image would work well on a circular card and I layered up several scraps of paper for the fishtail banner.

I have been a little nervous of attempting the colouring on this stamp but inspired by some fab cards like this amazing card from Yasmine and a wonderful tutorial on YouTube from Kit and Clowder I gave it a go.
And I just had to give her red hair!

Card recipe;
Image: Mermaid Miranda from Tiddly Inks
DP: MME 29th Street Market (quite an old collection!)
Scallop shape: cut with Cricut
Pearls: from The Hobby House
Sentiment: Personal Impressions Big Sentiment stamps

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/01
Hair: R29 + E09/18
Tail: YG000/00/03/17/67
Background: BG0000/000/01

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Cute Card Thursday (dancing queen)
2. Cupcake Craft (lots of layers)

So, now you have seen my card, maybe you would like to pop over to Totally Gorjuss and see what my lovely teamies have made.  If you join in our challenge you have a chance to win the prize from our fab sponsor this week, Heather's Hobbie Haven.

A CAS thank you

Hello lovely people,

Firstly, welcome along to my new followers; I am so happy you decided to follow my little blog :-)

Now, just a really quick post from me to share this little thank you card.  It made a really nice change from the intensive colouring cards I have done recently.  Not a Copic in sight here!  Just one of my favourite things for CAS cards - butterflies!
I have done a little bit of my usual stitching and used some pretty pearls to embellish the butterflies, which were cut with my Cricut.

Card recipe;
DP: random from stash
Pearls: from The Hobby House
Sentiment: Amy R So Wordy stamp set
Border: Martha Stewart border punch

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  As you like it (fave colour combo = pink and green as it is so fresh and pretty)

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,

Lovely lilac

Hello lovely people,

Before I get to the important stuff I just have to share that my craft room re-fit has all been completed but I haven't got round to taking photos of it so can't show you how awesome it is yet!  I won't keep you waiting much longer!

So, onto that important stuff and that is my Totally Gorjuss DT card.  We are sponsored by Crafters Companion this week and have this fab bingo grid for you to work with - you know the drill;
I went for the  'lace, string and pearls' column and no, I haven't got my DTs mixed up, I just decided to use a LOTV stamp because I love them so much!

I returned to my beautiful Maja papers before I had withdrawal symptoms and went for the lovely purple tones with a bit of added sparkle on the flowers using Frosted Lace Stickles.

I have used this stamp so many times and don't think I will ever get bored of it as it is so versatile and lovely to colour.

Card recipe;
Image: Teddy Bouquet from LOTV
DP: Maja Vintage Spring Basics (available from LLC)
Label shapes: cut with Cricut
Foliage: Memory Box Lavish Branch die
Lace: from The Ribbon Girl
Sentiment: Personal Impressions Big Sentiments
Twine / eyelets: from stash
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;

Flowers: BV0000/000/00/01/02 + RV91/93/95 + Y21/26

 I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Live and Love Crafts (50 shades of lilac)
2.  By the Cute and Girly (flowers)
3.  Papertake Weekly (anything goes +/- 2 stamps)

I hope you can pop over to the Totally Gorjuss blog to see the lovely creations from the rest of the DT and thanks so much for visiting me,

Bookmark bear

Hello lovely people,

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves over the bank holiday weekend and wasn't it fab to have some sunshine?  I did loads of gardening which did cut into my crafting time but I can't really complain about that can I?

Anyhoo, it's challenge day over at Lili's Little Fairies and this week it is time for something a little bit different as our theme is 'Anything but a Card.'  I decided to make a corner bookmark and think I will be keeping this one for my own use!

This is the first time I have used one of these cute mini stamps from LOTV and it is the perfect size for a bookmark.  I coloured it with Copics, cut it out with a Nestie then layered it onto a scalloped circle cut with my Cricut.
Here is a shot to show the bookmark 'in action' (on a Sherlock Holmes book in case anyone is wondering!);
Card recipe;
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
Lace: from The Ribbon Girl
Fancy edge: Martha Stewart edge punch

Copic colours;
Bear: E42/43/44 + R30 for ears
Flower: BV00/01/02

The rest of the Fairies have created some fab projects that aren't cards so do pop over to Lili's Little Fairies to take a look.  We have Crafty Ribbons sponsoring us this week so the lucky winner of our challenge will have loads of beautiful ribbons and more to choose from!

Thanks for visiting,

Bright and swirly

Hello lovely people,

You know how I am always marvelling at how time flies?  Well, I am now another year older, not sure about wiser though!  Anyhow, I intend to enjoy myself over the next few days as I am not back in work until Thursday - hurrah!
Today of course is Totally Gorjuss challenge day, our theme this week is 'Anything goes with Swirls' and our lovely sponsor is J&C Creations, who have tons of goodies in their shop.
I indulged in a few more Saturated Canary images recently and have gone for brighter colours than I have been using of late.  Yes, I managed to tear myself away from the Maja Vintage Spring Basics for one card at least!

It took me quite a while to colour this image as I am still learning my Copic colours but I was pretty chuffed with the end result and that I finally found a good blonde hair combo.
Card recipe;
Image: County Mama from Saturated Canary (with small child removed!)
DP: Teresa Collins Fabrications
Fancy edge: Martha Stewart edge punch
Swirls: Marianne Designs die
Flowers: from stash
Pearls: Kaisercraft
Sentiment: Personal Impressions Big Sentiments stamp set

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00/R30
Hair: E41/43 + Y21/26
Jeans: B95/97/99
Jacket: E84/87/89
Top: YR30
Hat: B91/93/95
Flowers: YR21/23/24
Grass: YG61/G21/BG93

I apologise for the slightly blurry photos and I will update if I get some better ones! - DONE!

I would like to enter this card in the Saturated Canary challenge, which has the theme of 'All things bright and beautiful.'

Ok, now off you pop to Totally Gorjuss to see what the rest of the DT have been up to...

Thanks for visiting and hopefully next time you stop by I will have my craft room update to share with you :-)

Hugs,
Kat xx
